Intimate stories about our childhood pains
caused by our parents were told for the first time to our teen-aged kids. We also related how our
parents went through similar experiences with their own parents. They responded—"Oh that
explains why you have such tendencies!"
We explained that our parents have long become Christians and have changed a lot. They even
apologized for what was done to us. I was feeling quite uncomfortable with how the
conversation was turning out, fearing how our children would perceive their grandparents and
great grandparents. But I was surprised to hear my 16-year old daughter say, in the thick of the
discussion, "At least this (cycle) ends now in our generation." And she said it with grace and
compassion. My wife responded, "Yes, it stops now because of Jesus Christ."
Unintentionally, this morning, I was reading through the two accounts of the genealogy of Christ
in Matthew 1 and Luke 3. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are quite familiar so I moved on to explore
further Judah and his son Perez. The account in Genesis (ch 38) on Judah becoming the father of
Perez is like an intermission in the Joseph the dreamer drama. And it talks about shameful acts
of deception in the family. If I were Perez or the son of Perez, I would not want to talk about or
even remember such story in my mind. I'd rather keep it as a secret, a family secret. Reading
through the genealogy list of Jesus Christ, how I wished it was Joseph, not Judah, who was
listed.
As I was musing about my disappointment that Judah not Joseph was in the genealogy list, a
thought came to mind. Christ was not ashamed. He had the story published for the world to
know. And there are a lot more personalities in the lineage with even worse stories! But upon
reaching Christ, the cycle of sin and shame stopped! The cross of Christ breaks the cycle of
frustration, demandingness, self-justification, self-preservation, deception, and all kinds of sin.
Last night, our children knew more about us, our past and our parents' past, but I wish they
would come to know us more in the present where the past is nailed to the Cross and what
concerns us now is forgiveness, compassion, courage, perseverance, self-control, truth and love.
Dear family, let us continue to pray for each other and our families, that ours is to be
characterized by Christ's love for each new day.
Your fellow sojourner,
Soc Arzadon
For the Nav Leadership Team (NLT)
NLT Highlights and Prayer Concerns:
1. Bobot and Wency's trip to the US. Please continue to pray for their safety and stamina for
20 hectic days. They'll be back second week of December. Pray they'll be a blessing to friends
and brethren. And that partnerships be renewed and established between the PhilNavs and CHAI
with individuals and groups in the US to help support the work in the Philippines.
2. Nav alumni and professionals gathering in Baguio City (Nov 29-30). Pray for safety,
meaningful fellowship and building up interactions around the topics of Financial Management
and Career Development. The NL RLT is expecting more than 50 participants from Regions 1, 2
and 3.
3. Ronnie and family are now in DB. Praise the Lord for all the marvelous things He has done
the past few days. Please keep reading Todo Na Kasado Na email exchanges.
4. Alumni Conference in August 2009. Let's be praying and supporting Jaime and team as
they're at the planning stage. Please keep watching for updates through email from Jaime.
5. NavKids Conference in April 2009 (Holy Week). Venue: Davao City. Let's inform all Nav
children (children of Navigators - fulltime or not) to start praying, planning and saving.
6. Greg H and Danny C are crafting an equipping tool for staff development. Please pray for
synergy so that their output will effectively address whole of life and ministry concerns.
7. The Resource Development Department (RDD) has reconvened and started planning for
ministry funding. The RDD is recommending that each Regional Council will have a yearly
fund raising event spearheaded by their alumni to create funds/seed money to support the
ministry programs. This would spare our Staff from dipping from his/her own personal and
family budget.
8. New Associate Staff appointees.
a. Erwin and Cynthia Posadas – to partner with the North Luzon RLT work among students in
Baguio and Alumni in Northern Luzon.
b. Jimmy and Raquel Quilang – lead the alumni and professional ministry in Nueva Ecija in
partnership with the North Luzon RLT.
c. Jek and Susan Dizon – continue to lead the ministry in Iligan City in partnership with the
Mindanao RLT.
d. Harold and Annie Cadelina – team up with Jek and Susan in Iligan City.

Visit CebuNavs Reunion 2010 WebSite HERE

Two Life-changing Devotionals: Updated Daily!!!

Let God speak to you through a verse.
Let God lead you in deeper faith.

Letter from NLT

October 2008
Dear Family,
This is the 10th month after the NLT, (National Leadership Team) assumed leadership of the Philippine
Navigators. The NLT will serve a five year term that ends up in 2012.
Vision….Mission… Strategy.
These are common items whenever a new leadership takes over. These are good. They serve as
guidepost or guiding light towards an end- a goal.
Two decades ago it was not spelled-out as it is today. These stuff are seldom heard in my early days as a
believer. Today both the church and the corporate world are 'singing the same piece'. Again, it is not bad.
Learning is everybody's privilege. We need to learn from the corporate world.
However, as we go along as a family in the Philippine Navigators we need to be reminded that owning a
good crafted VMS, will not necessarily bring the expected results. Most of the time if not always there
are only few of us who get results in spite of this structural ingredients in running an organization or a
small biblical caring group. Most importantly we need to:
Seek God's direction.
Is it God's Vision? Knowing God's vision having laid into our heart is a thing of great importance before
plunging into ministry and its activities. Otherwise, we will end-up frustrated. Is it align to His
overarching plan of redemption of man?
Is it God's Mission? We should know that with our sinful nature our mission is to gratify the insatiable
desire of the flesh. God's mission in us leads us to realize of our emptiness and drives us to be more
dependent on God's resources and ability in doing the ministry.
Is it God's Strategy? Whose strategy have we subscribed? Is it from God drawn from His written word?
Or simply generated from our years of experience. God's strategy is motivated by love, respect and the
fruit of the Spirit. Man's strategy is motivated by self, approval of people around, and self-vested
interest. Ministry is not a matter of personal gain and honor. It is for the glory of God in line with His
redemptive plan for the sinful world.
The next time we start a ministry let God be the owner and crafter of the Vision, Mission and Strategy
that we pursue. In so doing, success will always be a sure thing because God will make things happen for
His own glory! This is our Cutting Edge as servants of the King!
Bobot Migraso
for the NLT

Visit CebuNavs Reunion 2010 WebSite HERE

Two Life-changing Devotionals: Updated Daily!!!

Let God speak to you through a verse.
Let God lead you in deeper faith.

Letter From The NLT (Sept)

September 2008
Dear Navs,
Praying that everything's going fine with you all. Fine, I understand, does not mean the same to
everyone of us. "Everything's fine with us" just means God is always with us. In the past few weeks, my
life's not been running very smoothly. I realized that most of us are in the same boat. However, we are all
used to ministering and so we just try to go on doing what we are "called" to do - to minister. I had a taste
of being ministered to (i have not tasted it for quite sometime) by colleagues, by the people i am
ministering and the people i used to minister to. It feels good to be pampered by God (even through the
students i am helping!).
It is my prayer that in times of difficulties, we will feel the hands of God ministering to us - through
circumstances, through people around us. This is another area where the promise of Jesus in Matthew
28:20 is true ("..... I will be with you always to the very end of the age.") May we not just think, but also
really feel the presence of God in our times of difficulties.
And speaking of difficulties, our missionaries bound to some Asian countries are having a hard time
raising their funds. God will surely provide for them. Does God want to use us? As has been our unwritten
policy to help new staff financially, let us extend our partnership with them by supporting them financially.
in what he can not Jim Elliot once said, "He is no fool who gives what he can not keep to gain what he
can not lose."
May in all areas of our lives and ministries, we will be able to extend our "arms" of partnership. So,
please feel free to share your troubles. May not be in the whole e-group/s but to people you are
comfortable sharing troubles with and along with it, may we also extend sympathy/empathy and not
condemnation. May our Navs community become a real safe place for all of us.
For the NLT,
danny narciso

Visit CebuNavs Reunion 2010 WebSite HERE

Two Life-changing Devotionals: Updated Daily!!!

Let God speak to you through a verse.
Let God lead you in deeper faith.

Letter from the NLT (August)

From NLT Desk
July 28, 2008
Dear Nav staff and Nav alumni,
Shalom! "From the NLT desk" will be our monthly letter. Each NLT member takes turn to communicate
to you.
A radical but relevant form of leadership! This describes the new leadership structure we have adopted
for the Philippine Navigators. The team concept is based on the fact that God led His people through a
team- the triune God working according to their specific roles. It is also God's intention to build and
expand His Kingdom through a group of people exercising their varied giftedness. In addition, Filipinos
are healthier if led by a team. This provides balance and protects leaders from abuse of authority.
But it did not come to us easy in our first semester. Making a trek by four distinct individuals sometimes
means four separate trails. It is important for us to be reminded that the Holy Spirit is our over-all team
leader. We need to be sensitive to His voice and rod as we track down His steps. Your voice is also
important to us. Feedbacks and information from the field can help us in our decision making and
rerouting if necessary.
Although, the NLT is responsible over the whole Navigator ministry in the Philippines, we opted an
oversight person as coordinator. This is to simplify communication, coordination and accountability. Soc
coordinates the Northern Luzon Navs; Bobot on Metro Manila and Southern Luzon; Danny on the
Visayas; I coordinate the work in Mindanao. We can also crisscross the whole archipelago to serve you
with our varied giftedness. Request for visitation through email is sufficient.
What has transpired over the last six months? Individually, we visited different ministry areas; attended
regional planning and meetings; In January, together with our wives, we went to Malaysia for Asia
National Directors meeting and Missions Consultation. In February, Eseng got a Catholic ministry
exposure in America. We, together with some of our spouses, were resource persons for Campus
National Leadership Training Program. We led Staff Planning and Conference in April and some of us
attended a retreat sponsored by Samaritana. Last May, the Migrasos ministered to the Navs in Northern
Mindanao and Cebu.
Again, with our wives, we actively participated in Rico and Joei's (UPLB Navs; Joei is from Davao City)
wedding by being principal sponsors, officiating ministers, and driver to the couple. It was fun to be
together. In July, Manila and Cebu had a back to back sacrificial dinner to build mission fund.
What are we looking up to for the next few months? Two couples and two single ladies are on a row
ready to go to mission in three or four different countries. We are looking up to God for greater
partnership among the local (Navs in the local area) and the mobile (Nav staff) in advancing the Kingdom
of God. (Forthcoming activities are listed below.)
We are grateful to the on-going partnership. With limited resources, our office/Literature/Building staff
has been trying to excellently serve those in the field. The Regional Council (RC) and Leadership Team
(RLT) are praying and brainstorming on how the Gospel could naturally flow into the mainstream through
network of relationship. The local and the mobile have positioned ourselves to equip His people, build
loving communities and expand His kingdom here and beyond. As we acknowledge our limitations, may
His grace abound. What a privilege to be in a team such as ours!
Yours in Christ,
Jose "Eseng" Victolero
Thoughts to Ponder
(Revelation 2:1-7)
"Being right vs. being loving!"
St. John describes the church in Ephesus to be exemplary in deeds, hard work and perseverance. Their
doctrinal statement is not only hanged on the wall but written on their hearts. As a matter of fact, they
know how to detect falsehood among those who claim that they are apostles. They, too, hate the
practices of the Nicolaitans.
Right before my eyes is a seeming "ideal church". With the chaos and apathy of the church or maybe to
some degree also true to our Small Biblical communities, it will be tempting to choose a well-managed,
well-trimmed organization that thrives by the letter. "Being right" seems the ultimate dream for the
modern people of God.
But God has something against them. They have lost their first love. For quite a while, this has been part
of their church life. "Remember where you have fallen!" encourages them to redeem their lost love..
Is this "love for God" or "for others"? Whatever, they are inseparable! Beasley-Murray put it this way:
"Where love for God wanes, love for man diminishes, and where love for man is soured, love for God
degenerates into religious formalism, and both constitute a denial of the revelation of God in Christ. If
the price paid by the Ephesians for the preservation of true Christianity was the loss of love, the price
was too high, for Christianity without love is a perverted faith".
Paul sent a letter to the church in Ephesus that described the fervency of their love for one another
(Ephesians 1:15,16) and concluded it describing their incorruptible love for Jesus (6:24). Thirty years
later, John described them a totally different church. As Grant Osborne noted, "They had lost the first
flush of enthusiasm and excitement in their Christian life and had settled into a cold orthodoxy with
more surface strength than depth. The second generation of the church had probably failed to maintain
the fervor of the first."
"Being Loving" is the context of every relationship. If not, it is very temporary. It is the core of all
knowledge. If not, it the source of pride. Let us all seek "being loving" than to "being right"
Questions to consider:
1. Where do you most likely fall, being right or being loving?
2. How can we protect ourselves (staff) or the community we build
from being trapped by being right and not pursuing being loving?
3. How can we influence, if not the third generation at least the
next generation, with this core value of the church?
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Upcoming Events in 2008
1.
